Japanese Textiles and Treasures A slide show and presentation. |
| |
In November 1999, I traveled to Japan with a quilt that had been accepted for exhibition at the International Quilt Week Yokohama '99. I was invited back to Japan in March 2002 and May 2005 to teach and exhibit at the World Quilt Carnival in Nagoya. In this lecture, many different aspects of Japan are presented: Japanese quilts and quilters, shibori tie-dyeing, traditional weaving, indigo dyeing, kimono dressing, and some memorable sights.including the unique and wonderful toilets! |

Inspired by my Travels |
| |
My travels continue to be a source of inspiration for my work. This presentation is illustrated with slides of countries as diverse as China, Japan, Portugal, Great Britain and Canada. I will describe how I made the resulting knitted and sewn garments, which will be modeled and available for close-up inspection. This presentation will be of interest to knitters, quilters and other textile artists. |
